Today, Sunday we headed out of town to attend our assigned branch, Cosmo City. The trip took about 45 minutes. Cosmo City is one of the numerous townships which surround Johannesburg. Its a very poor area but the Church is growing rapidly and has purchased a large piece of property in a nice location.  The above picture is of the entrance to the property.

Sister Shupe with some of her new friends. I think Mom just found her calling on this mission. She got to lead the music in Primary. I was sitting in Priesthood Meeting and I could hear these children just singing so loud. I knew Mom (Grammy) was leading the music. It was amazing!

This picture will give you an idea of how the Church is building temporary chapels here in Africa. Five or six pre-fabricated units are connected together around a constructed and covered courtyard. Mom with her 3 new friends, in the previous picture, is standing in front of the courtyard. Eventually as the branch grows a permanent building will be constructed on this site. In the distance you can see part of Cosmo City.

  1. Yay! I love that Susan is teaching the gospel through Primary music! It's the best! So glad to learn how to see your updates. I kept getting discouraged seeing "no posts" and thinking you were too busy to write. Love and miss you two!

  2. What wonderful reunions to see those you taught so many years ago. This must feel a little, of what heaven must feel like a lot. Thank you for sharing. Jon
