Last week our dear friends Elder Whitney and Kathy Clayton came to Africa.  We were able to take them to our favorite Italian restaurant Tortellini d'Oro.

I also flew up to Nairobi, Kenya this past week for some legal work. Heading into town I noticed this advertisement for "Political Risks & Terrorism Cover". Kenya has been having its problems lately.

Two of my good friends at the Church's Nairobi Service Center. Jadmaire and Hesbon.

Mom and I will walk through the Houghton neighborhood a couple of times a week. With summer nearly here, most of the trees have grown their leaves back.

The homes of Houghton look more stately.

But it's the jacaranda trees which are coming into bloom now. Purple isn't Mom's favorite color unless it's on a Jacaranda tree.

We have some of the best Institute students in the world. Here's Jessica

And Robert. They both have been baptized within the last 6 months.

There's no Halloween or Thanksgiving to get in the way of an early Christmas here in South Africa.

If you're wondering what to get me for Christmas? Here's a $25,000 silver leopard for sale.

You drive outside of Johannesburg and you can still find traffic jams. The wildebeests (also known as gunus) always have the right of way.

Last week mom and I drove north to Sun City a resort that contains 6 hotels.

It's a little like Las Vegas.

Built in 1979 Sun City was situated in the native homeland of Bophuthatswana which had been granted independence in 1977 from South Africa. After 1994 all the native homelands were reincorporated into South Africa.

There's a great wave pool.

And a very long water slide.

Located near Sun City is the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

I have decided that the warthog is the ugliest animal on the planet. This guy let me get very close to him. Normally, they run off before you can take their picture.

No two zebras are alike. This one on the right was more black than white

The Zulu word for zebra is Dube. Which also happens to be the last name of our Branch President.

On September 24th, South Africa held its National Heritage Day. All the Church employees in the Area Office dressed up in their best tribal dresses.  In the center of this photograph is Sandi Taylor, head of Human Resources for the Church in the Africa Southeast Area.

There was lots of African food for all to eat.

No dress was the same.

Last Sunday my friend Eshley turned 12 and was ordained a Deacon in the Church. I was sitting on the front row and just had to take this picture as his father ordained him. It was just too wonderful.

Two young Sister missionaries visited OGC last week. They are Sister Gomez and Sister Bernardo.  Both are from Angola. They are the first sister missionaries from Angola. They will be serving in Mozambique.

A couple of more pictures from National Heritage Day.
